Based on his advanced age and perceived cognitive decline, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has faced speculation that he would likely not serve a full term in office if elected next month, perhaps even agreeing to step aside in favor of running mate Kamala Harris.
President Donald Trump doesn’t want to see that happen, though, and warned his supporters in Florida on Friday against the possibility that Harris could become the first “female socialist president” in American history, Breitbart reported.
“She will not be your first female president”
The president’s warning came during a speech in The Villages, during which he railed against both Biden and Harris.
Trump told his supporters that the Democratic ticket would impose a “socialist” agenda on the American people, weaving in a reference to Harris as “super radical left” early on in his remarks.
Later on in the speech, he called the California Democrat “the most liberal member of the United States Senate.”
He went on to confidently predict that “Kamala will not be your first female president,” describing the concept as antithetical to the American experience.
“We’re not supposed to have the socialist — Look, we’re not going to be a socialist nation,” Trump said. “We’re not going to have a socialist president, especially a female socialist president. We’re not going to have it. We’re not going to put up with it. It’s not going to happen.”
“Sexist rant”
The Hill reported that Trump’s comments about Harris were something of a two-edged sword that could both help and hurt him at the same time.
On one hand, railing against socialism and radical far-left ideals certainly plays well with his base, especially in Florida where many conservative Hispanics have personally experienced the horrors of socialism firsthand or through relatives.
Yet, the remarks will inevitably be portrayed as sexist by Democrats and liberal media, and thus run the risk of harming his level of support among women — particularly those in the suburbs who tend to play a key and decisive role in most elections.
Business Insider, for example, reported that the remark came as part of a “sexist rant.”
Nevertheless, it should be obvious by now that President Trump does not care much about how his leftist rivals will twist his words, instead choosing to speak bluntly in describing his opponents.
