There has been a growing sense of discontent among some of President Donald Trump’s supporters regarding Attorney General William Barr’s failure to take visible action against Hunter Biden and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden related to the family’s dubious international business dealings.
Among those unhappy with Barr’s apparent inaction is Trump’s legal advisor Rudy Giuliani, who on Thursday accused the attorney general and others in the Department of Justice of being too “intimidated” by Democrats and the media to move forward with a case against the Bidens, the Washington Examiner reported.
“Where’s the subpoena?”
During an appearance on Fox Business’ Sunday Morning Futures, both Giuliani and host Maria Bartiromo voiced their frustration over the matter.
“You’ve brought forth very important information that the public needs to hear,” Bartiromo said. “Where is government? Where is the attorney general? How come Hunter Biden has not been subpoenaed? How come we’re not forced to get an answer from the Biden family about this, five days before a presidential election?”
“Because our media is crooked,” Giuliani replied.
Bartiromo fired back, “Where’s the subpoena? I’m not talking about the media. I’m talking about the government. I’m talking about the AG.”
“They’re intimidated,” Giuliani replied, explaining that they have more on the line if they become ostracized. “They don’t want to get treated the way I get treated. My career is way behind me. They can’t do anything about my career. These people have careers. I have had people work with me that are getting — that got fired by their law firm, get threatened to be fired by their law firms.”
Barr and Wray could be out in a second term
According to the left-wing site Daily Beast, which cited unnamed White House officials and a source said to be close to Giuliani, both the former New York City mayor and the president have been venting behind closed doors over the apparent inaction from Barr’s DOJ, as well as the FBI under Director Christopher Wray, with regard to the Biden family.
It is also rumored that should Trump win reelection, Wray will likely be fired and replaced, and Barr may be close behind Wray in getting a push out the door of the White House in 2021.
Of course, both the DOJ and FBI have historically and traditionally remained silent about specific investigations, particularly if such cases are ongoing or involved high-level figures, so there is a real possibility — which Giuliani and Trump have acknowledged — that Barr and Wray may be working quietly on a probe into the Biden family’s business dealings.
It would be unwise and unprofessional — and likely backfire politically — if Barr were to publicly announce any sort of action against the Bidens just days before the election.
Depending on how the election turns out, we may never know for sure whether Barr was truly “intimidated” into inaction or was simply keeping his mouth shut while probing potential criminal wrongdoing.
