Biden calls Trump ‘George’ during virtual campaign appearance

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden appeared to confuse President Donald Trump with former President George W. Bush over the weekend when he said Trump’s reelection would bring “four more years of George,” the Washington Examiner reported.

Trump picked up on the gaffe and tweeted about it Monday morning:

Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn’t remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!

Media covers for Biden

Biden had the memory lapse during an “I Will Vote Concert” virtual campaign event with his wife Jill Biden on Sunday.

“Not because I’m running but because who I’m running against, this is the most consequential election in a long, long, long time,” Biden said. “And the character of the country in my view is literally on the ballot. What kind of country are we going to be? Four more years of George, George, [we’re] gonna find ourselves in a position where if Trump gets elected, we’re going to be in a different world.” See the clip below:

As Trump pointed out, several mainstream news outlets tried to cover for Biden, claiming the former vice president had been talking to comedian George Lopez, one of the two virtual event hosts, when he said “George,” but that, of course, doesn’t make sense in the context of his statement.

The Associated Press said that Republican claims about Biden’s gaffe were “missing context” and said Biden stumbled over his words but was trying to address Lopez. The Washington Post published an article titled, “No, Biden did not confuse George W. Bush and Donald Trump,” claiming that RNC director Steve Guest didn’t show the whole clip and that Biden actually said “four more years, uh, George, uh, George,” addressing Lopez both times.

Media trying to drag Biden across finish line

Obviously, the media knows that voters are looking closely at Biden during the final days of the campaign and that any further gaffes could lead them to decide he is too mentally diminished to be president.

Any Republican candidate who called a “lid” on his campaign as many times as Biden would have been relentlessly harassed by the press, but no one says “boo” about Biden hiding out to avoid questions about his son’s apparent shady business dealings and how he might have been involved.

If you can believe the current polling averages, an obviously mentally diminished candidate with substantial allegations of corruption to the tune of millions of dollars from foreign officials is going to walk away with the 2020 presidential election, even though he can’t get a couple hundred people to attend a rally while his opponent gets tens of thousands.

Forgive me for being skeptical.
