Polls show Biden underperforming in key demographic

Here is another reason why Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden’s path to victory this November isn’t going to be as easy as some polls suggest.

Breitbart just released a report showing that Biden, in several national and state polls, is underperforming among Latino voters.

The National Numbers

The national polls cited by Breitbart go back to mid-August with a Pew Research study. Released before the Republican National Convention (RNC), it had President Donald Trump polling at 35 percent among Hispanic voters and Biden at 63 percent.

These numbers slightly improved for President Trump after the RNC. In one poll conducted by Emerson University at the end of August, Latino support for Trump was found to be 37 percent compared to 60 percent for Biden.

A Quinnipiac University poll released even more recently had similar results with Trump receiving 36 percent of the Latino vote and Biden, 56 percent. Now, you may ask, “how is receiving 36 percent of any vote good for President Trump?”

What has to be remembered is that a Republican presidential candidate isn’t expected to receive a large percentage of the Latino vote. If we look back to 2016, for example, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received 66 percent of the Latino vote and Trump, 28 percent. In this sense, President Trump really is exceeding expectations with the Latino vote.

A similar story

Now let’s turn to some state-level polls. In a number of key swing states, President Trump is also doing well among Latinos.

One example is Florida. A recent poll by NBC/Marist College actually has President Trump receiving 50 percent of the state’s Latino vote, with Biden only at 46 percent.

Trump is also exceeding expectations with the Latino vote in Pennsylvania. There, Trump received 28 percent of the vote and Biden 59 percent.

Again, this number doesn’t appear to be that encouraging. One’s view changes, however, when he considers that, back in 2016, Clinton received 74 percent and Trump 21 percent of the Latino vote in Pennsylvania. And, in Florida, that number was 62 percent for Clinton and 35 percent for Trump.

It’s more bad news for Biden

As we know, the Latino demographic is a key one for a Democratic candidate like Biden. Previous reports have also indicated that Biden is underperforming in another vital demographic for a Democrat – the black vote.

If any of this is true, Biden simply has no chance of winning come November.
