Citizens are calling for justice after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) salon escapade.
According to The Daily Wire, a new online petition seeks to ensure that there is one rule for the “little people” and elites like Pelosi. “At a very minimum, Nancy Pelosi must be prosecuted by San Francisco for her flaunting of COVID regulations,” the petition reads. “Now!”
Prosecuting Pelosi?
Pelosi was recently caught getting a wash and blow-out at a San Francisco salon that was closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The House speaker had no mask on, Fox News noted.
Indeed, while the peasants face fines for failing to wear masks and suffer financial ruin from lockdowns, Pelosi seems to be somehow exempt from the rules — but thousands of outraged citizens are hoping to change that.
More than 30,000 people have signed the online petition demanding that Pelosi face punishment for violating the COVID-19 lockdowns and ruining the livelihood of a single mother of two, who she accused of a “set-up.”
The petition, which is addressed to the city’s police chief, is pithy enough. “Laws aren’t just for the ‘little people,'” it reads. “Not only did Nancy Pelosi knowingly violate health ordinances, but [she] just destroyed a business because she couldn’t take [an] ounce of responsibility.”
Pelosi’s hypocrisy
As is her nature, Pelosi blamed the salon owner after the incident and demanded an apology.
“So I take responsibility for falling for a set-up. And that’s all I’m going to say on that,” Pelosi said, according to The Daily Wire. “I think that this salon owes me an apology, for setting me up.”
The salon owner, Erica Kious, says she is leaving the city after receiving a torrent of death threats and negative Yelp reviews, a point noted in the new petition: “The salon owner gets death threats, while Pelosi has paid ZERO price for her hypocrisy.”
Kious made a GoFundMe page that has brought in more than $300,000, The Daily Wire noted.
A galling double standard
Of course, Democrats always seem to find a way to weasel out of things like this, and San Francisco’s mayor has already signaled that Pelosi is off-limits, saying it’s time to “move on.”
Still, we applaud these citizens for making their voices heard. With so many Americans struggling through Pelosi’s lockdowns, this kind of hypocrisy is galling. Americans shouldn’t have to stand for it.
