Biden touts focus on American jobs, ignores son Hunter’s involvement in outsourcing to China: Report

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden hit the campaign trail in Michigan this week, emphasizing a commitment to preserving and restoring U.S. jobs during an address in one major Detroit suburb.

Breitbart’s John Binder pointed out, however, that the former vice president conveniently omitted his own family’s connection to firms that profited by outsourcing many of those very same jobs.

“Muffled by his son Hunter’s ties”

Biden’s campaign rhetoric “is muffled by his son Hunter’s ties to the Chinese government,” Binder wrote, citing research by author Peter Schweizer.

“Make it in Michigan, make it in America, invest in our communities, and the workers in places like Warren,” the candidate said in remarks to a small group on Wednesday.

He went on to assert that finding “a good job in 2020 shouldn’t be a lottery” but should instead “be an expectation.”

Schweizer, who serves as president of the Government Accountability Institute, wrote in a 2018 book that Hunter Biden served on the board of a private equity company called Bohai Harvest RST.

That firm was established with assistance from China’s communist government via $1.5 billion in funding from the state-run Bank of China, as reported by the New York Post.

“One of the largest Chinese takeovers”

The younger Biden stepped down from that board last year, according to a statement from his attorney that stated he “intends to resign from the BHR board of directors on or by October 31, 2019.”

In 2019’s Profiles in Corruption, Schweitzer explained that Biden’s time at BHR coincided with its acquisition of Michigan-based Henniges Automotive with help from the Chinese-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

“The $600 million acquisition was one of the largest Chinese takeovers of an American automotive company in history, topping AVIC’s 2010 takeover of Michigan-based Nexteer Automotive for $440 million,” he wrote.

In a subsequent press release, Henniges Automotive executives touted a new plan to expand manufacturing work in China and other locations overseas.

Joe Biden’s stump speeches and sound bites might resonate with Americans worried about the evaporation of domestic jobs. If voters take the time to research his public record and his own son’s international ties, however, the campaign promises are likely to ring hollow.
