Former Vice President Joe Biden was just caught lying about President Donald Trump yet again.
The Democratic White House hopeful told voters in Minnesota on Friday that Trump failed to mention the coronavirus pandemic during his February State of the Union address — but according to Breitbart, that’s simply not true.
Lyin’ Biden
Biden’s false claims came during a talk with union supporters in Duluth. According to Breitbart, Biden tried to cast Trump in his remarks as a negligent leader who bears the brunt of the blame for deaths from COVID-19 in the U.S.
According to the latest data from The New York Times, nearly 200,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus this year. More than 6.8 million have been infected.
“How many people across the Iron Range, how many empty chairs at those dinner tables because of his negligence and selfishness?” Biden asked Friday, according to Breitbart. “Imagine if he had just, maybe on the State of the Union of that year, spoke up and said, ‘We’ve got a problem, but we can handle, here’s what we got to do.'”
Protecting Americans
But as Breitbart reported — and as a transcript of Trump’s address shows — the president did mention the growing pandemic in his State of the Union earlier this year. Democrats, meanwhile, were busy worried about an impeachment effort that ultimately failed.
“Protecting Americans’ health also means fighting infectious diseases,” Trump said in February. “We are coordinating with the Chinese government and working closely together on the coronavirus outbreak in China.”
The president went on: “My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat.”
Staying visible
Breitbart noted that Biden also made his false assertion about Trump on Thursday during a discussion with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Cooper, it should be noted, failed to push back on the former VP’s claim.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Biden has made inaccurate comments about Trump’s response to COVID-19. An April report from RealClearPolitics revealed six such lies from Biden — and that was just a few weeks into the viral outbreak.
“There is no good reason for Joe Biden to consistently lie to the American public,” RealClearPolitics’ Kayla Gowdy argued in her April report. “Perhaps it’s more of his senior moments that prove he has no concept of reality. Or maybe it’s just a failed attempt to stay visible during this crisis.”
