It seems that Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden has completely lost it.
According to Breitbart, the former vice president claimed Thursday that President Donald Trump has “put Israel in danger.”
“Tearing up” the Iran deal
Yes, that’s right: Biden says the man who is up for a Nobel Peace Prize and who has made leaps and bounds with regard to peace in the Middle East in recent weeks is putting one of his most prized allies at risk.
“Trump has put Israel in danger by tearing up the Iran nuclear deal,” Biden told attendees at a fundraiser hosted by the left-leaning, George Soros-backed group J Street, according to Breitbart. Thus far, J Street — which, by the way, opposes the Israeli government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a friend of Trump’s — has raised over $2 million for Biden, Breitbart reports.
Biden reportedly said at Thursday’s event that by nixing the Obama-era Iran deal, Trump “has undermined the stability of self-determination for the Palestinians, undercutting hope for a viable two-state solution any chance that he gets.”
Biden said he would seek to “re-enter” the deal under certain conditions. “I’ve said that if Iran returns to compliance I will reenter the deal with Iran, and I will move to do that,” Biden said, according to a Jewish Insider report cited by Breitbart. “I’ll work with our allies to make it longer and stronger.”
Biden also said that, as president, he would “reopen the U.S. consulate in Palestinian East Jerusalem.” (We won’t harp on the fact that the consulate to which he was referring was actually located in western Jerusalem, as Breitbart noted.)
“Another historic breakthrough”
Though Trump has cut aid to Palestine in order to stop its government from paying stipends to terrorists, he also offered Palestine a peace plan which would not only recognize it as a legitimate nation, but also provide a $50 billion investment if it stops terrorizing Israel and recognizes Israel as its own sovereign state, Breitbart reported.
What’s more, Biden’s remarks warning that Trump has “put Israel in danger” come as the Trump administration secures its second peace deal between Israel and another Middle Eastern nation in the span of just weeks.
The White House announced what it called a “historic” deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) “to Advance Peace and Prosperity In the Region” in mid-August, and now, another deal has been made between Israel and Bahrain, the BBC reports.
Trump touted both deals in a tweet posted Friday.
Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain agree to a Peace Deal – the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days!
