In the words of the Daily Caller’s Eddie Zipperer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) flipped out at a PBS NewsHour journalist on Tuesday, accusing Judy Woodruff of advocating for the GOP.
At issue was an assertion from Woodruff that Republicans had shown some “flexibility” with regard to Democrats’ demands for more money to bail out state and local governments amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to Fox News, “That didn’t sit well with Pelosi.”
“I’m playing devil’s advocate”
“The other point Republicans are making is they are now showing flexibility in money for state and local governments,” Woodruff said at one point during her Tuesday interview with the House speaker. “This is again a difference — Democrats want more money, Republicans want a lot less.”
The PBS host continued: “They are saying they’re willing to show flexibility and they’re also saying a lot of the money that was passed in the spring, Madam Speaker, has not even been spent yet. So is there—?”
“Well, if you want to be an advocate for them, Judy, if you want to be an advocate for them, listen to what the facts are,” the speaker interrupted, according to Fox.
Woodruff responded, “No, I’m—I’m playing devil’s advocate here.”
“Pelosi flips out”
But according to Fox, Pelosi wasn’t buying it. “No, you aren’t,” she told Woodruff.
As Fox reported, the House speaker went on: “The point is we have a bill that meets the needs of the American people. It’s called the HEROES Act. They [Republicans] don’t even want to do state and local and when they do, it’s very meager and they want to revert money from before.”
Take a look at the caught-on-camera exchange:

The bottom line
Despite what she may claim in media appearances, Pelosi knows she’s at fault for the current statement in negotiations on a new coronavirus relief bill — and Woodruff’s line of questioning reveals that the media is aware of that fact, as well.
If more journalists would call Pelosi out for her inflexibility, perhaps we’d finally see some action from Capitol Hill.
