Fauci: There is ‘no reason’ in-person voting can’t happen in November

As part of an overarching goal to embarrass and undermine President Donald Trump, the media establishment has often focused on differences he has had with top White House coronavirus task force adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.

That didn’t work so well in a recent interview when Fauci appeared to be in agreement with the president that, by observing a few key precautions, it would not be a problem for most people to cast their votes in person in the upcoming election, contradicting the left’s all-out push for universal mail-in voting, Breitbart reported.

“I’ll likely vote in person”

That unexpected announcement from Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, came during a live-streamed interview with Geoff Edgers of The Washington Post on Friday.

Toward the end of the nearly 40-minute discussion, Edgers raised the topic of the general election and asked Fauci if he intended to “vote in person or are you planning to vote by mail-in ballot? What’s your thought on that?” Edgers added that he would prefer to vote by mail so he wouldn’t have stand in a line at a crowded polling location and risk potentially being infected by somebody else.

Fauci replied, “I’ll likely vote in-person, but under the circumstances — that if what I see in grocery stores, what I see at Starbucks, is you get six or more feet, stand here and don’t move until the person ahead of you.”

“I believe the polling stations are going to do that. If they do that, the six feet, I wouldn’t have any problem,” he added. “But I absolutely understand people who have a concern about that who should be able to vote by mail.” Watch:

“There’s no reason I can see”

Dr. Fauci’s reply in his interview with the Post mirrors what he had said about voting in person during an interview with National Geographic earlier in the week.

The outlet’s Deborah Roberts raised the concerns some people have about voting in-person and asked, “Can people safely go out and vote in person, given that this year, there is so much concern around the vote?”

“I think if carefully done, according to the guidelines, there’s no reason that I can see why that not be the case,” Fauci replied and also used the same example of grocery stores and other spaces that mark spots on the floor so that people can maintain proper distancing from others.

“And you can do that, if you go and wear a mask, if you observe the physical distancing, and don’t have a crowded situation, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do that,” he said of voting in-person, while also suggesting that those who are at higher risk may want to avoid the situation and vote by mail instead. “So there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to vote in person or otherwise,” Fauci declared.

So there you have it, folks, straight from the media darling doctor himself. There should be no problems with Americans voting in the election in person, provided the proper precautions at polling places are taken, in what is surely a serious disappointment to Democrats plotting to impose widespread use of mail-in ballots.
