Donald Trump responds to Nancy Pelosi, says she’s ‘one sick puppy’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) lashed out at Donald Trump over the weekend for his coronavirus response, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper that “as the president fiddles, people are dying.”

Only hours later, Trump announced that the US will endure another month of strict social distancing guidelines to control the spread of the virus and allow the healthcare system to prepare for the rising tide of patients.

In a Monday interview with “Fox & Friends,” Trump said the Pelosi is “a sick puppy, in my opinion” and highlighted the fact that decisive action by the government has indeed prevented the astronomical loss of life that some models depicted at the beginning of the crisis.

“If we didn’t do anything, 2.2 million people could have died,” Trump explained.

Though Trump indicated last week that his goal was to have the economy re-opened by Easter, his announcement on Sunday makes it clear that he’s abandoned that aspiration at the advice of the White House coronavirus task force.

“The worst thing we can do is declare victory … and then not have victory,” He said. “We’re at war, this is war.”

Pelosi hammered that “we have to have testing, testing, testing,” while failing to acknowledge that quick action by the FDA allowed the emergency approval of several new tests that deliver results in less than an hour. According to the Washington Times on Sunday, the US is now the world leader in coronavirus testing, conducting nearly 1 million tests throughout the nation.

Nancy Pelosi exposed

Pelosi tried to characterize Trump as a coronavirus denier in her Sunday interview, saying that “We should be taking every precaution. The president, his denial at the beginning, was deadly.”

However, Trump’s January decision to shut down travel from China has proven to be a key measure of slowing the spread of the virus in the US, as the nation’s leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci explained.

Almost a month later, even as coronavirus had entered the US and began spreading throughout communities near Pelosi’s San Fransisco district, Pelosi toured her city’s Chinatown, urging tourists to not let fears of the virus keep them from the area.

“You should come to Chinatown. Precautions have been taken by our city. We know that there is concern about tourism all throughout the world, but we think it’s very safe to be in Chinatown. I hope that others will come,” Pelosi said in late February.

Just 21 days later, the entire city issued the nation’s strictest “stay at home” orders as coronavirus cases rapidly proliferated through the city.
