Trump says his family has ‘suffered’ as a result of impeachment process

President Donald Trump recently sat for an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity that aired just ahead of the start of the Super Bowl on Sunday, and the brief discussion covered a wide range of topics, from impeachment to the upcoming November election.

Speaking with regard to the wholly “unfair” nature and proceedings of the impeachment effort by Democrats, Trump revealed that the relentless push to remove him from office has been most unfair to his family, the New York Post reported.

“Unfair” impeachment takes toll

The president noted that the effort by Democrats to oust him from office seemingly began “on the day I won” — if not even from the moment he first announced his candidacy in 2015 — and that it had been a “very, very unfair process.”

“The Mueller report, Russia, Russia, Russia, as you say — which was total nonsense. It was all nonsense, the whole thing was nonsense,” Trump said.

“But it was a very unfair — and mostly it was unfair to my family. I mean, my family suffered because of all of this. Many other families suffered also,” he revealed.

“It was a very, very — it’s a very serious thing. It should never happen to another president,” Trump added.

Trump’s family targeted

President Trump noted that Democrats — with ample help from the allied liberal media — have been working to demean him and drag his name through the mud from the get-go.

As such, it is not surprising that the hyperbolic rhetoric and pure vitriol aimed at him have taken a significant toll on his loved ones.

The president’s adult children — daughters Ivanka and Tiffany and sons Don Jr. and Eric — have been attacked by the left on a seemingly nonstop basis, though they have weathered the storm in as resolute a manner as could be possible.

Arguably the most heavily impacted by the unceasing nonsense and unmitigated hatred directed toward President Trump have been his wife Melania and their young son Barron, however, as both have also been subjected to venomous insults and disturbing personal smears.

Leave them alone

The left’s incessant and over-the-top assault on President Trump, while incredibly disconcerting, is nonetheless to be expected and, for the most part, it appears that Trump has let it roll off his back as he continues to do the job he was elected to do, seemingly unfazed.

The uncalled-for and highly personal attacks on his family — especially Melania and Barron — are an entirely different matter, however, and we can only hope and pray that they, too, will be able to withstand the intense anger heaped upon them simply because of their relationship to the president of the United States.
