Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, the Daily Caller reports.
Her nomination was spearheaded by Jens Holm and Hakan Svenneling of Sweden’s Left Party. According to the two lawmakers, Thunberg “has worked hard to make politicians open their eyes to the climate crisis.”
“Stolen” dreams
According to Holm and Svenneling, “action for reducing our emissions and complying with the Paris Agreement is therefore also an act of making peace,” thus qualifying Thunberg for the honor.
Thunberg is well known for giving angry, accusatory speeches as well as for glaring menacingly at political figures with whom she disagrees.
“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,” Thunberg raged at the United Nations Climate Summit in September, adding that she is “one of the lucky ones.”
“People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing,” she warned the assembled audience.
Thunberg’s dire admonitions continued, as she declared,”We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
Shame campaign
Rather than flying to New York, Thunburg arrived at the summit aboard a 60 foot yacht as a means to promote the so-called “flight shame” movement, an effort to make people feel guilty about the potential environmental impact of air travel.
Thunberg first rose to prominence by skipping school on a weekly basis in protest of climate change, explaining in an interview that she got the idea from watching similar walkout protests organized by student gun control advocates in the wake of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“Not just about the environment”
However, addressing the environment apparently isn’t the only item on Thunberg’s advocacy agenda. Last November she wrote, “The climate crisis is not just about the environment,” instead contending that her efforts were also directed towards the “crisis of human rights, of justice and of political will.”
“Colonial, racist and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it,” the left-wing darling continued. “We need to dismantle them all.”
Last year, photos emerged of the teenager and both of her parents wearing t-shirt emblazoned with the words, “Antifascist All Stars.” The anti-fascist or “Antifa” movement is characterized by its far-left ideology and the willingness of its adherents to engage brutal in violence against journalists, political figures, or really anyone who holds an opposing point of view.
