Barr touts Trump’s good sense of humor: ‘He’s very easy to work with’

During his long career, Bill Barr has served as attorney general under Presidents Donald Trump and George H.W. Bush. But while he has kind words for both men, he appears to have a favorite.

In a recent appearance on Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s XM radio show, Conversation with Cardinal Dolan, Barr touted the current commander-in-chief as a boss who is “easy to work with” and has a “good sense of humor.”

“I see him on a regular basis, several times a week,” Barr told Dolan and co-host Dave Dwyer, according to Townhall. “He’s very easy to work with. He has a good sense of humor. He’s very direct.”

“He doesn’t have two different acts”

Barr was asked on the cardinal’s show to compare the two presidents. “How were the styles different, H.W. Bush and Donald Trump?” the host asked, according to Townhall. Barr responded that “they’re very different.”

“I love both men,” the AG said. “H.W. [Bush] was more low-key. He had a very strong interest in foreign policy in which he really focuses attention on.”

But the Justice Department head also had more positive words for his current boss.

“One of the things I like about him is what you see in public is very much what you see in private,” Barr said of Trump. “He doesn’t have two different acts that he puts on and he’s much more engaged than people give him credit for.”

“He listens”

Barr also lauded Trump for being willing to bring in outside voices when making tough decisions. “He’ll reach down and bring the experts in,” Barr explained. “He listens.”

The AG went on to characterize Trump as being “very hands-on” and “a strong leader” who is “is getting things done.”

“I just sometimes say, if he wasn’t facing the resistance that he is, and the dogged opposition that he faces, you just wonder how much more he could accomplish. Because he’s accomplished a lot in the face of great resistance,” Barr said.

Barr served as attorney general under President George H. W. Bush from 1991 until 1993. He has been in his current post since February of last year — but not without controversy. Democrats have long accused the AG of being too close to President Trump, and his latest interview didn’t help matters.

“Sounds like Barr wants to be vice president rather than head an office that historically has had independence even though it’s under the executive office,” a former federal prosecutor told Business Insider of the radio show. Another opined that “he couldn’t recall another attorney general ‘publicly discussing at such length his personal feelings about the executive,'” Business Insider reported.

But it seems leftists’ complaints are falling on deaf ears. The Trump administration is continuing to push forward with groundbreaking successes, whether the Dems like it or not.
