At least two people are dead and seven wounded after a shooting near Houston, Texas on Friday night, the Washington Examiner reports.
Nine people were shot in all, according to the Examiner, in what authorities called an “ambush” at a set where a rap music video was being filmed.
An ambush in Houston
According to NBC News, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters during a news briefing that while details remain sparse, it is known that the victims, a group of young men who were filming a music video in an office complex parking lot, were fired upon in a drive-by shooting by unknown assailants.
It was initially reported that four individuals were wounded; others had fled the scene before first responders arrived, according to the sheriff, who later provided an update.
The two fatalities were pronounced at the scene.
“This is a very serious situation — this is a residential neighborhood,” Gonzalez said. “A lot of shots were fired.”
A serious situation
According to the Houston Chronicle, the victims were all Hispanic men said to be in their late teens and early 20s.
“There were other vehicles that were staged there and we believe they were filming some type of music video when, all of a sudden, basically they were ambushed, we believed by individuals in cars and/or [on] foot that fired shots into the parking lot area,” Sheriff Gonzalez explained.
Some of the wounded suffered “very serious injuries,” according to reports, including one victim who was shot in the head and said to be in critical condition at a nearby hospital. The perpetrators, who have not been identified, remain at large.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. “Anybody that was out here, they need to speak up,” Gonzalez said at his presser, according to the Examiner. “We need some leads right now.”
But it doesn’t fit the script
Sadly, while the mainstream media loves to use mass shootings to their political advantage, broadcasting them ghoulishly for weeks following the tragedies, they also love to ignore incidents that don’t fit their preferred narratives. And this is just another case of the same.
Unless it turns out the shooters were MAGA-hat-wearing white supremacists with AR-15s, it’s likely that little more will be said about this tragic shooting. What a shame.
