The voter who former Vice President Joe Biden called a “damn liar” and challenged to an exercise contest later diagnosed Biden as “senile” and told reporters that he should drop out of the 2020 race, the Washington Examiner reports.
Biden confronted the 83-year-old man, who said he was supporting Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in the race, after he told Biden at a Thursday campaign event that he was too old to be president. The voter, who would not give his name to reporters, later questioned how the former vice president’s son, Hunter, landed a high-paying job at Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.
“You’re a damn liar”
“I’ve got two problems with you,” the voter told Biden on Thursday afternoon, according to the Examiner. “You’re too old. I mean, truly. I know damn well I don’t have the mental faculties I did.”
The voter went on to refer to ongoing impeachment proceedings in the House against President Donald Trump
“We all know Trump’s been messing around with Ukraine over there, holding their foreign aid for them to come up saying they’re going to investigate you,” the 83-year-old said before turning to Biden. “But you, on the other hand, let your son over there, get a job and work for a gas company. He had no experience.”
“You’re a damn liar, man,” Biden shot back. “That’s not true. And no one has ever said that, and no one has heard that.”
“Let’s do push-ups”
When the man continued to criticize Biden’s son’s actions with Burisma, the former VP suggested that things get physical.
“The reason I’m running is because I’ve been around a long time, and I know more than most people know, and I can get things done. That’s why I’m running,” Biden said. “And if you [want to] check out my shape on, let’s do push-ups together, man. Let’s run, let’s do whatever you want to do, let’s take an IQ test.”
The man, who is a registered independent, responded to Biden’s comments after the event.
“[Biden] is so old, he’s senile anyhow,” the man said, encouraging the former VP to drop out of the race. “It was all softball stuff, he don’t want to answer the hard stuff… He’s been in the Congress all of his life, and all of these problems like high drug prices and all of that — where in the hell has he been for the last 50 years?”
Democrat meltdowns
Regardless of the man’s hostile tone toward Biden, at the end of the day, who insults a voter while campaigning? Uncle Joe is clearly melting down in the face of Senate investigations and up-and-down poll numbers that make it clear most Democrats still aren’t sure about his candidacy. But Biden isn’t the only Democrat melting down.
Also on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) blasted a reporter who asked her if she hated the president, according to CBS News. After angrily insisting that she has a “heart full of love,” Pelosi told the reporter: “Don’t mess with me.”
Why are Democrats breaking into a frenzy? It likely has a lot to do with their failure to make their case in impeaching Trump — and the way his poll numbers keep rising the more they try to convince the public that he should be removed.
It’s got to be frustrating to live inside the Washington bubble, thoroughly convinced that Trump is a bad man, but be unable to convince the majority of the public of what they believe. We should probably expect many more meltdowns in the future as the Democrats’ impeachment effort goes down in flames.
