Durham meets with CIA’s Gina Haspel, NSA’s Mike Rogers amid ongoing probe: Reports

Attorney General Bill Barr tasked U.S. Attorney John Durham with “investigating the investigators” behind the Trump–Russia collusion probe — and now, it seems Durham is making some major headway.

Reports from Politico and the Washington Examiner suggest that Durham is meeting with some high-profile sources as he continues his investigation, including CIA Director Gina Haspel and former National Security Agency (NSA) Director Mike Rogers.

Revelations from Rogers

Navy Adm. Mike Rogers is said to be cooperating with Durham’s probe, according to The Intercept, and has reportedly personally spoken with the U.S. attorney on multiple occasions.

While the content of those meetings remains largely unknown, Rogers apparently cooperated voluntarily and has been helpful to Durham’s efforts to piece together the origins of the counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign team and alleged ties to Russia.

According to the Examiner, Durham’s conversations with Rogers likely covered abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) by federal agencies, including the FBI — revelations that were recently confirmed in a scathing report from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz earlier this month.

This wouldn’t be the first time Rogers helped blow the whistle on FISA abuses, however; in 2017, the Navy admiral told congressional investigators that FBI contractors had been inappropriately searching through raw data for information on U.S. citizens in violation of the 1978 law. Rogers had himself put an end to the practice the year prior.

Rogers, who retired from the NSA in May 2018, also took the initiative to meet with then-president-elect Trump at Trump Tower before he was inaugurated, and was one of the online intelligence community chiefs to stay on board at the Trump administration for any length of time.

Help from Haspel

But the FBI isn’t the only agency of concern for Durham. According to Politico, the U.S. attorney has been doing some digging into the CIA, no doubt in an effort to determine the full role played by former CIA Director John Brennan in the plot against Trump.

For more information on that, Durham has reportedly turned to current CIA Director Gina Haspel, who, Politico reports, has been asked to turn over documents relevant to the Justice Department’s probe, particularly with regard to a January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) about Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Key in all of that is the full scope of the role the largely unsubstantiated Christopher Steele dossier played in the ICA’s conclusions.

As noted, it is unclear what, exactly, Durham has said in these meetings, but the mere fact that he is talking to — and apparently receiving cooperation from — top officials like Haspel and Rogers has undoubtedly made the anti-Trump plotters and their sycophants in the media shake in their boots.

Durham is steadily closing in on those who were responsible for the “Deep State” coup attempt against Trump — and it seems like it is only a matter of time before their political plot is exposed.
