Ukraine prosecutor says Barr never asked Ukraine to investigate Bidens

Democrats continue to believe that Attorney General William Barr was involved in the Ukraine situation that the House is currently trying to use as a basis for impeaching President Donald Trump. But, as time goes on, there is more and more proof that Barr had nothing to do with the matter.

Now, a top Ukrainian prosecutor has come forward with a bombshell, stating that Barr never asked Ukraine to join the U.S. Justice Department in investigating the Bidens or Burisma.

New Testimony

Ruslan Ryaboshapka became Ukraine’s top prosecutor not long after the July 25th phone conversation between President Trump and Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This is the same phone call that is being used by Democrats to argue that Trump committed an impeachable offense, namely, a quid pro quo, in threatening to withhold military aid until Zelensky agrees to look into Hunter Biden and his employer, the allegedly corrupt energy firm Burisma. However, Ukraine did end up receiving the military aid in September and no investigation into the Bidens was begun.

But some Democrats say that Barr was involved, that the attorney general, at the command of the president, asked Ukraine to participate in a joint investigation with the U.S. Justice Department into Burisma and the Bidens. This, at least, is what Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler claims to believe.

“The President dragged the Attorney General into this mess,” he declared in September. “At a minimum, AG Barr must recuse himself until we get to the bottom of this matter.”

Not so fast

The problem for Nadler’s theory, however, is that some key evidence has come forward that clears Barr’s name.

The first piece of counterevidence emerged in September when a spokesperson for the DOJ told Politico: “If you are asking separately if the President has asked the AG to investigate Biden, the answer is no.”

This has now been confirmed by Ryaboshapka. The Ukrainian prosecutor told the Financial Times that Barr “had made no contact to formally request a joint investigation.”

Ryaboshapka also clarified matters, stating that Ukraine has not directly investigated the Bidens.

Rather, the country has been conducting a broader review of the investigations carried out by the previous prosecutor, who was alleged to be corrupt, and as part of this review, they are looking at the Burisma case. Since Hunter Biden worked for Burisma, his name may or may not have come up, but Ryaboshapka explained that no independent investigation has been carried out by Ukraine into the Bidens and their relation to Burisma.

The Democrats seem to have run into another dead end.
