A member of the famed Kardashian-Jenner family, with which the Trump family has significant ties, has been forced to miss a high-profile personal appearance due to a recent hospitalization.
Kylie Jenner, half sister of Kim Kardashian, is currently being treated for an undisclosed illness. The 22-year old Instagram socialite and cosmetics mogul said she was “heartbroken” about missing Paris Fashion Week, where she was slated to preview a new product line.
A spokesperson for Jenner said she’s in good condition.
Kylie Jenner hospitalized
Jenner announced on Wednesday that she’s “sick and unable to travel,” two days before she was slated to unveil a new makeup line in Paris on Friday. On Tuesday, Jenner had announced a collaboration between Kylie Cosmetics and Olivier Rousteing of fashion house Balmain.
Neither Jenner nor her spokesperson went into detail about her exact condition. However, Jenner’s illness did not stop her from promoting her product to her nearly 200 million Instagram followers from her hospital bed.
“KYLIE X BALMAIN collection launches this Friday the 27th at 8am pst I’m wearing our eyeshadow palette, lip liner, and lip gloss it’s been a dream come true to collaborate with you [Olivier Rousteing]! I can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on this beautiful collection.”
Kylie was admitted to the hospital with reported “severe” flu-like symptoms. She missed her scheduled appearance as a presenter at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, a ceremony during which her sisters Kim, 38 and Kendall, 23, unintentionally prompted noticeable snickers from the crowd.
Ties to Trump family
The Trump family has close connections to the Jenners and the Kardashians. Kylie’s sister Kim Kardashian West has played a public role in advocating for Alice Marie Johnson, a prisoner pardoned by president Donald Trump as part of his criminal justice reform initiative.
Kardashian forged a close relationship with Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, the architect of the reform plan. Both Kim and her husband Kanye West have faced criticism for working with the Trump administration on the initiative.
Kanye West has caused considerable public controversy over his support for the president, including an erratic Oval Office visit in a MAGA hat last October. Kanye is a supporter of the #Blexit movement founded by conservative Candace Owens, and he has endorsed the view that Democrats have historically taken the black vote for granted. West has said that he identifies with Trump’s energetic personality and so-called “dragon energy.”
Jenner has something in common with Donald Trump as well: she’s a billionaire. The 22-year old is the wealthiest member of the Jenner-Kardashian clan, as the CEO and founder of Kylie Cosmetics. Forbes’ description of her as the “youngest self-made billionaire ever” caused some controversy because of the wealth and privilege in which she was raised.
Kylie is the daughter of Caitlyn Jenner, a former Republican and ex-Trump ally. Jenner, who voted for Trump in 2016, stopped supporting the president last year over the his purpored inaction on addressing issues facing the LGBT community.
