According to Breitbart’s John Nolte, there have been 639 acts of violence against Trump supporters. Included is one incident that just occurred on Thursday.
At a campaign rally for 2020 hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), a man was arrested for assault after he confronted a group of pro-Trump protestors who were leaving the event.
The scene
Tempe, Arizona, was the site of Warren’s event, which was attended by a few protestors, as well as her supporters.
The group of about five protestors were reportedly members of the AZ Patriots, a pro-Trump group of activists and citizen reporters who describe themselves as standing “boldly for American values and Conservative principles.”
According to those who were in attendance, some of the AZ Patriots were wearing the standard pro-Trump attire, that is, the red “Make America Great Again” baseball hat. In addition, the AZ Patriots wielded at least one banner which protested “the social that [Warren’s] peddling.”
What happened?
One of Warren’s supporters, 29-year-old Kristian Doak, took exception to the protestors. According to the Washington Post, this individual tried to grab a cell phone from one of the AZ Patriots who was using the device to film the event.
Thereafter, Doak was asked by police to leave — but didn’t. Video shows him being dragged out by security. Watch below:
He is now being charged, according to Tempe Police Sgt. Kevin Renwick, with “assault and disorderly conduct for confronting another subject at the event.” Renwick added that this incident is “pretty cut and dried.”
Where’s the civility?
One member of the AZ Patriots, Jennifer Harrison, spoke with the Post about what happened. She told the reporter that the incident occurred when she and her group were “peacefully” leaving the event, having been asked to do so by security.
It was then that the man came up to the group and tried to take the cell phone. Apparently, he also went after Harrison, who said that he “tried to take a swing at me.”
Harrison added something that is usually not seen in the news these days, which is that it is Democratic supporters, not Trump supporters, who are usually quick to violence.
“Liberals cannot keep their hands to themselves at these events,” she said. “They see a Make America Great Again hat and they become unglued.”
