Trump unloads on ‘nasty, vindictive, horrible’ Pelosi over ‘prison’ remark

The simmering feud between Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump boiled over this week following shocking reports that Pelosi told her fellow House Democrats in a closed-door meeting that she was less interested in impeaching Trump than in seeing him “in prison” once he left office.

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump reversed his usual policy toward the House speaker and responded with equal fire. “I tried to be nice to her,” he told Ingraham, but said that Pelosi is “a nasty, vindictive, horrible person.”

“Nasty, vindictive, horrible person”

In the past, Trump has restrained himself when speaking about Pelosi and generally refrained from using the sort of insults he typically heaps on other foes — sometimes even being overly complimentary of her — but those days are over now.

Roughly mid-way through the interview, which took place in Normandy, France for the 75th anniversary of the World War II D-Day invasion, Ingraham asked Trump about Pelosi’s “prison” remarks. Trump replied, “I think she is a disgrace.”

“I actually don’t think she is a talented person. I tried to be nice to her because I would have liked to have gotten some deals done. She’s incapable of doing deals,” he said.

“She’s a nasty, vindictive, horrible person,” Trump said of Pelosi, prior to immediately shifting gears to note how special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report had been a “disaster” for Democrats in that it did not find conclusive evidence of any collusion with Russia or obstruction of justice.

“Pelosi is a disaster, OK?”

President Trump pointed out how Mueller’s lengthy investigation was, by all accounts, heavily stacked against him. “With all of that, two-and-a-half years, think of it, from before I even got elected, they’ve been going after me and they have nothing,” he said.

Shifting his attention back to Pelosi, Trump noted how Mueller had had to issue a letter clarifying certain things his report had gotten wrong. “But Nancy Pelosi — I call her Nervous Nancy — Nancy Pelosi doesn’t talk about it,” he said.

“Nancy Pelosi is a disaster, OK? She’s a disaster, and let her do what she wants — you know what? I think they’re in big trouble because when you look at the kind of crimes that were committed — and I don’t need any more evidence, and I guess from what I’m hearing there’s a lot of evidence coming in,” he continued.

“And then ask Nancy, why is her district — drug needles all over the place? It’s the most disgusting thing, what she’s allowed to happen to her district, with needles, with drug addicts, with people living in the middle of the street, with people living on the sidewalk … she ought to focus on that because she’s a disaster,” Trump added.

“Horrible, nasty, vicious statement”

In reference to Pelosi’s comments once more, the president said, “It was a horrible, nasty, vicious statement — while I’m overseas. Now if I made a statement about anybody it would be a big headline, ‘Why would he do that when he’s overseas?'”

“She is a terrible person, and I’ll tell you, her name, it’s Nervous Nancy because she’s a nervous wreck,” he added. Watch below:

Recall the liberal media’s hand-wringing over the “Lock her up!” chants at Trump rallies during the 2016 election about Hillary Clinton — in relation to her secret email server scandal — and how all of the talking heads fretted about how terrible it was for politicians to talk about putting their rivals in jail?

The media has not had the same reaction to Pelosi — or any other Democrat, for that matter — talking about imprisoning President Trump for unspecified “crimes.”
