Nancy Pelosi blasts President Trump in tweet from overseas

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has committed an act that some are calling treacherous if not treasonous.

Disregarding one of the unwritten rules of politics, the California Democrat launched a verbal attack on President Donald Trump from foreign soil on Saturday over a video he shared on Twitter last week criticizing recent remarks from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

“We will never forget”

The House speaker spent the weekend in Stuttgart, Germany visiting members of the U.S. armed forces. But she still found time to go after President Trump.

“The memory of 9/11 is sacred ground, and any discussion of it must be done with reverence,” Pelosi tweeted. “The President shouldn’t use the painful images of 9/11 for a political attack.”

Pelosi’s remarks came in response to a controversy that first began last month after Omar spoke at a fundraiser for the terrorist-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Omar has faced backlash from conservatives over remarks she made at the event diminishing the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to: “Some people did something.”

In response, the president posted an edited video of Omar repeatedly saying “some people did something” over footage from the deadly attacks, which left nearly 3,000 dead.

“WE WILL NEVER FORGET!” read the caption.

The water’s edge

Democrats, led by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) and Rashida Tlaib (MI), responded by accusing the president of inciting violence and endangering the life of Omar, who has recently faced death threats amid scores of controversial comments she has made in recent weeks.

And now, Pelosi herself has entered the fray.

From Germany on Saturday, the House speaker accused President Trump of trying to “fan the flames” and making others — likely referring to Omar herself — feel “less safe.” She tweeted:

In choosing to criticize President Trump from overseas, Pelosi ignored one of the unwritten rules of her job: “Politics ends at the water’s edge.” Indeed, it’s undoubtedly a bad look for representatives of our country to undermine the president from abroad.

But given Pelosi’s track record, should we really expect any less?
