Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has pushed the false Trump-Russia collusion narrative as few others have. For this, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway decided it’s time for the House Committee chairman to go.
For the second time in the past month, Conway is calling for Schiff’s resignation. She also challenged Schiff to “produce the evidence” of collusion he has claimed to possess.
“Put up or shut up”
Shortly after the release of the Mueller report on Thursday, Conway appeared on Fox News to discuss the Mueller investigation, which she referred to as a “political proctology exam” that gave President Donald Trump a “clean bill of health.”
“The Democrats — and their friends in the mainstream media — put so much into this,” she said. “They’ve invested so much into this. … They got nothing.”
Among those Democrats, Conway singled out Schiff for the role he has played, “peddling a lie, day after day.”
“Not only should he resign, he should produce the evidence that he said he has,” said Conway. “If he has evidence of collusion that somehow the special counsel couldn’t find over 22 months and $35 million of our money, I want Adam Schiff to produce that. He ought to put up or shut up.”

Schiff’s impeachment mission
Like many Democrats, Schiff saw the Russia collusion investigation as an opportunity to impeach President Trump. Accordingly, he had his mind made up about Trump’s guilt from the beginning — before the investigation even took place.
Now, even though the investigation is complete and found no evidence of collusion, Schiff is continuing his impeachment mission, vowing to do what Special Counsel Robert Mueller was unable to.
“Even if they didn’t rise to the issue of a crime, it nonetheless could pose a great compromise of our national security,” said Schiff.
Leading the calls
For this obviously partisan effort, Schiff faced resignation calls from his Republican colleagues and Trump. Leading the way was Conway last month.
“He ought to resign today,” she said in March. “He has been on every TV show 50 times a day during the last two years saying that the president would be impeached or indicted.”
Now that the Mueller report has been released, Conway says that she is “doubl[ing] down,” asking Schiff not only to resign but to produce the condemnatory evidence that he claims to have on the president.
And she’s right — Schiff’s actions border on treason, and he ought to be held accountable.
Meanwhile, Conway’s husband George Conway, an outspoken Trump critic, wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post calling for the president’s impeachment “without delay.”
