Another big name Democrat has added her voice to those calling for the resignation of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D). Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton demanded that Northam step down from his position on Saturday.
“This has gone on too long,” wrote Clinton. “There is nothing to debate. He must resign.” She included a link to an Associated Press article which has been tracking the developing Northam story.

Dems abandon Northam
Senator Tim Kaine (D -VA), Clinton’s running-mate on the 2016 presidential ticket, has also called for Northam to step down.
Like other prominent Democrats, Clinton, with this tweet, appears to be trying to distance herself from Northam. She supported him on his way to political victory in November of 2017 by headlining a fundraiser for him.
Northam: the latest
The Virginia governor found himself in the hot-seat for the second time in a week after the conservative website Big League Politics published his 1984 medical school yearbook page on Friday, which included a photo of two individuals in costumes — one dressed as a Ku Klux Klan member and the other wearing blackface.
As the backlash erupted, Northam initially admitted to being one of the costumed individuals, but did not specify which one. “I am deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now,” he said in an apology Friday evening
But the next day, Northam backtracked and denied being one of the two people in the photo. At a press conference Saturday, he said, “I am not the person in that photo.” He suggested that the photo had been printed on his yearbook page by accident. He did, however, admit to wearing blackface as part of a Michael Jackson costume to a different party that same year.
This is where the matter stands currently, with Northam refusing to resign even as members of his party, both within and without of Virginia, urge him to step down.
There’s more . . .
Northam also received heavy criticism last week for his comments in support of a proposed bill that would allow abortion until birth — and beyond. Here he is defending the “40-week abortion” bill:
If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.
The apparent support for “fourth-trimester abortion” shocked the nation. As GOP Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) summed it up, “We’re talking about killing a baby that’s been born.”
In response, Northam stood by his support of the bill but tried to dodge criticism by saying that such a scenario would only apply to “nonviable” pregnancies or to babies with”severe fetal abnormalities.”
While pro-abortion Democrats and most of the mainstream media ignored or downplayed Northam’s horrifying “infanticide” comments, the blackface/KKK photo may finally prove to be his undoing — both the right and the left want him out now.
This is a developing story.
