Trump White House claims Kavanaugh FBI report shows ‘no sexual misconduct’

Senators won’t get a look at the tightly constrained FBI report until Thursday, but the Wall Street Journal reports that Trump has already given Brett Kavanaugh the all clear.

The White House has found no corroboration of the allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after examining interview reports from the FBI’s latest probe into the judge’s background, according to people familiar with the matter.

Reports indicate that the total number of people interviewed was six. Four of these were high school friends of Kavanaugh. One was a friend of Christine Blasey Ford. One was Deborah Ramirez. Ramirez named over twenty potential witnesses. None were spoken with. Many others who knew Kavanaugh at Yale attempted to contact the FBI. None were interviewed. Neither was Dr. Ford. Neither was Julie Swetnick. Neither was anyone who might confirm parts of her story.

It seems that the FBI was ordered to talk to an extremely limited set of people that were judged safe, to ignore any evidence brought to them, and to follow up on nothing. There’s probably a word for that, but it’s not investigation.
