Democrats slam limited FBI investigation: 'The most notable part of this report is what's not in it'

Having seen the FBI’s limited investigation of sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer told the press in no uncertain terms that it was a set-up. “The most notable part of this report is what’s not in it,” Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters, pointing to the corroborating witnesses identified by Deborah Ramirez who the FBI never interviewed, as well as other people from Kavanaugh’s past who have come forward asking to talk to the FBI, and been ignored.

“We had many fears that this was a very limited process that would constrain the FBI from getting all the facts,” Schumer said. Unfortunately, “those fears have been realized.” But even with the limitations placed on the investigation, “Having received a briefing, I disagree with Sen. Grassley’s statement that there was no hint of misconduct.”

Finally, Schumer reiterated Democrats’ call that “the documents with proper redaction be made public. Why shouldn’t all of America see the facts?” He also called for the directive from the White House to the FBI setting out the scope of the investigation to be made public, allowing voters to see what the FBI was and wasn’t allowed to look at as part of the investigation.

This investigation was a set-up. It looked like one all along, and now we have confirmation from Democrats who’ve seen its results.
