More Yale alum refute Kavanaugh's 'choir boy' image: 'You can’t lie your way onto the Supreme Court'

After Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh inexplicably appeared on the most partisan network in America to “make his case” that he was neither the man who sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in high school, nor was he the man who drunkenly shoved his penis in the face of Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez while his buddy cheered him on, yelling “kiss it!” Kavanaugh painted himself as a “choir boy” and said he was a virgin in high school and “many years after.” Frankly, the virgin part is quite believable. But, that has no bearing on whether he did the acts his female accusers describe. 

During the Fox News interview, Kavanaugh claimed the drinking age was 18 years old back then and he’d been drinking legally, but never to the point of being blacked out. Aside from the fact that the law had changed to 21 years old when Kavanaugh was 17 years old, the “choir boy” image Kavanaugh painted in the interview has prompted even more classmates to come forward to refute this image. 

Liz Swisher, who described herself as a friend of Kavanaugh in college, said she was shocked that — in an interview focused largely on his high school years and allegations of sexual misconduct — he strongly denied drinking to the point of blacking out.

“Brett was a sloppy drunk, and I know because I drank with him. I watched him drink more than a lot of people. He’d end up slurring his words, stumbling,” said Swisher, a Democrat and chief of the gynecologic oncology division at the University of Washington School of Medicine. “There’s no medical way I can say that he was blacked out. . . . But it’s not credible for him to say that he has had no memory lapses in the nights that he drank to excess.”

Swisher is not alone in refuting Kavanaugh. Depicting himself as a model student was enough to push classmate Lynne Brookes over the edge, compelling her to come forward because of the seriousness of the position and his obvious lies around it.
