While Americans still have not received a COVID stimulus check, President Joe Biden is doing everything he can to assist the woke mob’s latest effort at cultural purification.
As the cancel culture came, unthinkably, for Dr. Seuss — on his birthday, no less — Biden quietly left out any mention of the beloved children’s author on Read Across America Day, Breitbart reported.
Biden drops Dr. Seuss
Read Across America Day was established by the National Education Association in 1998, and it falls on Seuss’s birthday, March 2.
The date was chosen in honor of the beloved author, whose books, such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and Horton Hears a Who! have been read by generations of children.
But Seuss, whose real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel, is being re-appraised by left-wing commissars after the apparent discovery that tales such as If I Ran the Zoo were racist tracts all along.
Former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump both honored Dr. Seuss, but he was conspicuously absent from Biden’s statement on Tuesday as he bowed to leftist backlash against the author, who has been dead for three decades.
“On this Read Across America Day, we celebrate the parents, educators, librarians, and other champions of reading who help launch our Nation’s children on that critical path,” the White House said.
Cancel culture comes for Dr. Seuss
Also Tuesday, six of Seuss’s books were yanked from publication after Dr. Seuss Enterprises consulted with “experts” on diversity: And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot’s Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, Scrambled Eggs Super!, and The Cat’s Quizzer.
“These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” Dr. Seuss Enterprises told The Associated Press, saying it was part of a “broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families.”
Incredibly, some on the left have said that it is those against canceling Seuss who are overreacting.
Meanwhile, some are looking back at statements from prominent Democrats who naively praised Seuss, before his nefarious “racism” was uncovered.
Obama lauded Seuss for sharing “universal values we all hold dear” and Biden’s own vice president, Kamala Harris, praised him as well.
