Fox panel shuts down Newt Gingrich after he mentions George Soros: ‘So it’s verboten?’

Apparently, it’s not OK to mention George Soros on Fox News — and Newt Gingrich had to find out the hard way.

Speaking to a panel on the Fox News’ Outnumbered on Wednesday, Gingrich was stunningly shut down after he dared to suggest that Soros’ money might be going to elect district attorneys who he says are refusing to keep rioters and looters in jail as protests continue across America, the Washington Examiner reported.

“The No. 1 problem in almost all the cities is George Soros-elected, left-wing, anti-police, pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up,” Gingrich, a former Republican congressman who served as speaker of the House in the late 1990s, said, according to the Examiner. He went on:

Both [Kamala] Harris and [Joe] Biden have talked very proudly about what they call progressive district attorneys. Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal, and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros’ money. And they are a major cause of the violence we are seeing because they keep putting the violent criminals back on the street.

“So it’s verboten?”

Gingrich’s comments brought a quick rebuke from panel host Melissa Francis. “I’m not sure we need to bring George Soros into this,” she said, according to the Examiner.

Incredulous, Gingrich tried to continue his point, pressing, “He paid for it.”

“No, he didn’t,” Marie Harf jumped in, as the Examiner reported. “I agree with Melissa, George Soros doesn’t need to be part of this conversation.”

At this point, Gingrich regrouped after an awkward pause and said, “OK. So it’s verboten?”

That’s when a third panel member, Harris Faulkner, cut off the interview completely. “OK, we’re going to move on,” she can be heard saying in a clip first shared by the Examiner.

What’s going on?

It’s undeniable that Soros has poured tens of millions of dollars into local campaigns, like that of St. Louis circuit attorney Kim Gardner, who released all the protesters arrested for violent rioting after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis and then tried to charge law-abiding gun owners for defending their property by standing outside their home with guns in hand.

Fox News, for its part, is no stranger to talking down Soros and accusing him of trying to buy races for Democrats, but maybe the top-rated cable network was intimidated by Soros’ people calling them anti-Semitic for it in May and threatening legal action against them, as The Washington Post reported.

It’s clear that this panel, at least, has bought into the left’s doublespeak that denounces legitimate concerns about Soros as “conspiracy theories” in order to shut down people’s questions. Now we know.
